Set includes: Porsche 911 RSR 2.8 Brumos Gregg, Haywood 1973 #59 and Porsche 911 GT3 RS Buckler, Schrom, Bernhard, Bergmeister 2003 Racers Group Team #66. Very Limited Edition 1 of 2,403 pcs. It was 1973 that saw the Porsche 911 really burst forth into the limelight. Using the new RSR and running in the prototype (Group 5) class, as the car would not be homologated in Group 4 until March 1st, Peter Gregg and Hurley Haywood brought their Brumos-entered car into the winners circle at the Daytona 24-Hour race held on February 3rd/4th. During the Daytona race Gregg and Haywood were only challenged by one other 911: the Penske-entered car of Mark Donohue and George Follmer (PMA item # 430 736906). After all the prototypes (Ferraris, Alfas and Matras) as well as the Donohue / Follmer RSR had retired Gregg and Haywood cruised home to victory. On February 2, 2003, the Racer's Group Porsche 911 GT3RS improved on 2002's GT class win at the 24 Hours of Daytona by capturing the overall victory. Co-Drivers and repeating winners Kevin Buckler, Michael Schrom, Timo Bernhard and Jörg Bergmeister drove quickly, consistently and mistake free through the night to take the trophy. This victory marks the first time since 1977 that a GT team has captured the overall win. Until the last three hours of the race, the Racer's Group Porsche had close battles with a number of cars, the most dramatic of which were with the #59 Brumos Porsche-Fabcar and the #88 Multimatic Ford. To commemorate these achievements we created a 2-car set, showing both cars staging an imaginative 1-2 finish on Daytona's main straight. And, for the very first time MINICHAMPS models feature a grimy finish, further enhancing the status of this set. This set is limited to 2,403 pcs. with individual sequential numbering on the printed platform.
